Collections for Apartment Starter Kits are ongoing.

Their Mission: To empower transition age youth to live stable, self-directed lives by providing them with housing and wraparound support services.

Young adults who age out of foster care need support navigating this threshold and avoiding worst-case scenarios such as homelessness and incarceration.  According to their website, "LIFE Skills Foundation aims to provide a safety net and support network for transition age youth in Durham, NC, that do not have ‘someone’ to turn to for help.”

The WWC has chosen to support this vital organization, its programs, and impressive partnerships by collecting donated items needed for "Apartment Starter Kits" which are then delivered to the Foundation offices to be given to selected transition youth for their first apartment needs.  A list of items collected is here:  Life Skills Foundation Apartment Starter Kit

Donations of items or monetary gifts are collected by Eva M. and you can find contact information listed under the Community Service Club Chairs in the Contacts section of this website.

We thank Alex Protzman, Executive Director of LIFE Skills Foundation, and Shiesha Bell, Director of Programs, for speaking to our group in February 2021 and allowing us to assist their supportive and much needed efforts.
